Andrews Myers’ commitment to its female attorneys goes well beyond the recruitment phase. Today, nearly 30% of our lawyers are women and that percentage continues to grow. Women hold significant leadership positions in the firm, serving as shareholders, department leads, practice group mentors and recruitment committee chairs.
We recognize that some of the challenges facing women attorneys and women in business can be multi-faceted and dynamic, and that some of these issues can be a source of strength. The Women’s Initiative at Andrews Myers is focused on maximizing skills unique to women, and building and maintaining the expertise women need for elevating their careers, successfully developing sources of new business, and navigating growth of their practice.
Our objectives include recruiting, retention, training, mentoring and development.
Our initiatives include:
- Identification of leadership and speaking opportunities
- Presentation of in-house skills workshops for our attorneys, sharing our knowledge base and collaborating across practice groups
- Client functions to socialize, network and learn
- Quarterly meetings to examine our progress, mentor each other and enjoy lunch together
We are also committed to put some of our time into community outreach and are actively working to identify a charitable partner.
“The Women’s Initiative actively supports and encourages women attorneys, through mentoring and other programs, to connect and build professional relationships across offices and practices within the firm, and externally with clients and other professionals. The building of these important social networks provides a solid foundation for career growth and opportunity.”
