Toyota Center – Harris County-Houston Sports Authority
In 2001, construction began on a brand new, state-of-the-art, $235 million dollar sports arena in Houston, Texas, specifically designed to house both the NBA’s Houston Rockets and the AHL’s Houston Aeros. Laid over the span of six city blocks, the 750,000s.f. arena would eventually be branded as the Toyota Center and features an arena playing surface nearly 32′ below street level, giving it the largest lower level of any arena in the nation. During this time, Way Engineering Ltd. was the mechanical contractor on the project, which opened in 2003. Andrews Myers represented Way Engineering Ltd. in evaluating and resolving issues related to project schedule and project scope, as well as associated costs, to ensure a successful close-out and completion of the project. A significant portion of Way Engineering’s costs resulting from schedule and scope changes were successfully recovered.
